LUXURY DESIGNER SOPHIA WEBSTER MOVES HEADQUARTERS TO SUGAR HOUSE ISLAND.

We are thrilled to report that Sophia Webster is the latest business to relocate its headquarters to Sugar House Island’s creative quarter, Dane’s Yard.

The British luxury shoe and accessories designer will occupy over 2,000 sq ft of space in The Sugar House, the former nineteenth century sugar refinery warehouse which gave the Island its name. Occupying the gold-clad, canal-side extension, which was designed by Waugh Thistleton, will be the business’s central team.

Sophia Webster founded her label in 2012. A graduate from the distinguished London College of Fashion and The Royal College of Art, Sophia debuted her first collection for Spring/ Summer 2013, becoming internationally renowned for her unique, creative and uplifting designs.

The brand’s instantly recognisable aesthetic today consists of an extensive footwear offering as well as seasonal Bridal, Handbag and Mini lines. Sophia has collaborated with a diverse array of brands including Puma, Barbie, Coca Cola, J Crew, Alex Monroe and Sophia’s very own shoe hero, Mr Patrick Cox.

Sophia Webster’s eponymous founder said, “We chose to move our headquarters from Shoreditch to Sugar House Island as we have been immensely impressed by the area’s burgeoning creative community, and the social offer available on the doorstep for our team.”

Michael Cronin, Head of Portfolio at Vastint UK, said, “The relocation of Sophia Webster’s headquarters to Sugar House Island is emblematic of how creative talent in the capital is shifting eastwards.

“Our own UK headquarters is located on the Island, so we know first-hand the benefits of the area’s excellent connectivity and its proximity to world-class educational institutions for attracting and retaining talent, as well as the quality of the office space. Being on site week-round means we can remain close to the needs of our community, something we know offers a rare opportunity for businesses like Sophia Webster. We’re delighted to welcome the team to the Island and to integrate them into the community of creative businesses already here.”
