TWO NEW EXHIBITIONS LAUNCH AT CHIMNEY WALK, FOCUSED ON CHILDHOOD NOSTALGIA AND SCULPTURE
As part of our ongoing year-long partnership with Hypha Studios, we’re excited to announce the two new exhibitions which have just launched in Gallery 1 and Gallery 2 at Chimney Walk.
Gallery 1 is home to:
- ‘Uncanny Playgrounds’, curated by Ana Paola Flores. A group exhibition by a group of Goldsmith University and Royal College of Art students: Sandra Blow, Claudia Martignetti, Jeehee Kim, Lawrence Kirk, Minori Murata, Arabella Simpson, Xin Huang, Milly Aburrow, 32, Janice Kei, Tong Wu and Arty McFly.
- The works explore the intersection of childhood nostalgia and adult unease through a diverse array of mediums, including performances and music events. This exhibition is designed to be immersive, inclusive, and playful, offering an adult audience an opportunity to explore the complex emotions evoked by nostalgic playthings reimagined with an uncanny twist.
- Date and time: 20 September – 26 October, Thursday to Sunday, 12-6pm
Gallery 2 is home to:
- ‘Hot Wheels of Karma’, curated by Georgina Kerr. A group exhibition by Eleanor Bedlow, Georgia Kerr, Dolly Kershaw, Millie Laing-Tate, Chloë Louise Lawrence, Maria Positano and Linda Zagidulina.
- The exhibition showcases primarily sculpture-based work and draws parallels between various forms of resistance in making sculpture. With a shared frustration for tropes of sculptural expression, often defined as feminine, the artists instead show the slapstick karma within objects, revealing disobedience and provocation.
- Date and time: 20 September – 26 October, Thursday to Sunday, 12-6pm
