CONSTRUCTION UPDATE, APRIL 2022
April 13, 2022
As we move into the Spring months, we see construction works on the first residential buildings complete, with efforts now focused on the Island’s second phase of commercial.
MU2 – Offices and retail along the High Street
MU2 comprises three office buildings set along Stratford High Street (MU2.1, MU2.2 & MU2.3). At pedestrian level the buildings will provide a number of retail, café and restaurant spaces, with the upper floors offering approximately 27,000m2 of office space.
The structures of MU2.1 and MU2.3 are approaching roof level, with approximately 2-3 months left to complete the building envelope. Waterproofing to the roof and balustrades will start once the structures are complete. M&E works are progressing well internally with installation of electrics, mechanical pipework and ventilation. Materials such as raised flooring and tiles have started arriving for internal fit out.
The installation of building MU2.2’s superstructure has now commenced.
Public Realm
Three custom made charred Oak benches with planters attached will soon be arriving in Cooperage Yard. The benches were designed by Artist in Residence Rachel Wyld, and created in collaboration with local carpenter Daniel Higgins at Blackhorse Workshop.
Additional greening for Dane’s Yard is in progress with feature planters, green screens and semi-mature trees due to be installed in the coming months.
