CONSTRUCTION UPDATE SEPTEMBER 2022
September 23, 2022
As we move into the Autumn months, we see construction works on the Island’s second phase of commercial progress, as well as new works starting on the next two phases of residential.
Offices and retail along the High Street (MU2)
MU2 comprises three buildings which will offer a total of more than 220,000 sqft office space and 23,000 sqft retail. Two of the three buildings (MU2.1 and MU2.3) have reached fit-out stage, with the lift lobbies progressing and raised floor installation underway. Plant room screens are now in construction, and the full envelope of the buildings will complete in the next six weeks.
Building MU2.2 is a little further behind in construction, the structure and window installation is now underway, with topping out predicted for the end of 2022. Landscaping will start to the pedestrianised Chimney Walk in November.
Residential
Construction of the Island’s next two phases of residential (R3 and R4) started in August this year, the two projects will be built concurrently. Basement and substructure works are now underway. By Summer 2023 we will start the frame erection. Both projects will have three tower cranes installed starting with the end of September 2022. Completion of both projects in targeted for early 2025.
Public Realm
A substantial greening project has been undertaken to introduce more plants and greenery to Sugar House Island’s public realm. The new additions include large Corten style feature planters with trees and grasses, as well as enclave troughs filled with exotic mix plants.
