Dane's Yard - construction update

Construction update – June 2020

June 30, 2020

We have finished the final touches to Dane’s Yard’s public realm, including the addition of three new riverside benches and granite seating installed around the base of the Dane’s Yard Tower. The riverside walkways have also been paved with granite.

2 Cooperage Yard has been fully fit out and is the new home to global creative arts publisher, Phaidon.

The shell and core works of 2 Dane’s Yard are nearing completion and the building is ready for fit out.

We are also nearing completion on 1 Cooperage Yard, a four-storey office building with a gym on the ground floor. Final plans are in place to fit out shower facilities for the tenants of Dane’s Yard.

Inside The Sugar House, structural floors are currently being installed within the original Victorian warehouse, paving way for ground floor workspaces and eight new residential units. Externally, the supports for the distinctive gold cladding to the CLT extensions have been put in place. The original external brickwork is being cleaned and repaired.

The structural steel roof trusses have been installed to the original section of 3 Sugar House Lane and new composite metal roofing will follow in July. Repairs to the original brickwork are almost complete, and internally, containment for building services is being installed.

We are pleased to announce that we were granted planning permission for the school earlier in the month and construction works have begun.

The majority of the internal works for Botanical Mews, our first residential homes, have been completed and the focus is now on commissioning and snagging. Resin floor painting is in progress in the basement and landscaping of the internal courtyards is well underway, with approximately 9,000 herbaceous plants and ornamental shrubs on their way.

Good progress is being made on our second offering of residential homes, Soapmaker Mews which will be available to rent in 2021. The cladding is nearing completion, and the final balconies will be installed in the coming months. Drainage and attenuation tanks have been installed, and the internal fit out is well underway.

Just last week, we were granted planning consent to deliver three office buildings along High Street Stratford. At pedestrian level, a number of retail, restaurant and café units, as well as an exhibition space, will be clustered around the new public realm of Chimney Walk. Construction on this plot is due to start in August.

The safety and protection of our staff, and all our project partners, is of upmost importance to us and we are closely following any changes in government legislation or guidance related to improvement to safety.

Construction at Sugar House Island is continuing with a number of strict measures in place to ensure social distancing is maintained. These controls have been reviewed and approved by the Health & Safety Executive (HSE).
