R2 Soapmaker Mews October 2020-2

Construction update, autumn 2020

October 21, 2020

Dane’s Yard – The Creative Quarter

The Sugar House – Fit out works to homes on the upper floors of the Sugar House are continuing with all internal partitions and fireproof ceilings between apartments installed. Electrical works have also started. Externally, the final brickwork repairs are being made and the support system for the eye-catching metal cladding is being installed.

3 Sugar House Lane – The majority of window frames are now installed along with external door frames and most of the doors. Much of the electrical, plumbing and ventilation is underway with handover to our new tenant planned for early December.

Sugar House Island Primary School

Construction works are progressing well, with the second-floor concrete slab now cast. The windows will be installed at the end of this month, with façade and roofing works beginning in mid-November. The program is on schedule for the school to open in September 2021, ready for the new school year!

Residential

Botanical Mews – The building control certificate for Botanical Mews has now been awarded, and all landscaping completed, including a ‘pocket park’ children’s play area. We have welcomed the first islanders who began moving in at the end of September.

Soapmaker Mews – Internal decoration to some of the apartments has recently started. The lifts in each core are in the process of being installed, and are expected to finish by the end of November. Externally, the façade and roofing are now complete, and landscaping is due to start in November.

Offices and retail along the High Street (MU2)

Piling started in the beginning of October and is expected to continue until the beginning of November. The pre-cast structural and façade elements of the buildings are currently in production, with a mock up standing tall on site (in case you wondered what that was). Substructure works are due to start in the new year.
